The three fixed horizontal axis wind turbines take advantage of the sail profile of the twin towers. The towers funnel the onshore breeze between them, accelerating the wind velocity, thereby increasing the power generated. Each wind turbine is 29 metres diameter and is rated at 225kW.

We initially undertook the concept and scheme for the twin 240m high office towers, which are framed in reinforced concrete. Detailed design for the piled raft foundations and associated basements followed, along with preliminary finite element analysis of the towers and liaison with the wind tunnel specialist on wind tunnel testing.

At the detailed design stage we undertook the finite element analysis and the design of the primary structure and supervised the detailed design for other elements of frame and floors.

We also undertook the scheme design for the top structural steelwork 'spire', the panoramic lift enclosure, and associated low rise 'feature' glazed steel structures within the podium development.

On behalf of WYG Limited we undertook a structural Peer Review for this 50 storey residential high rise building and associated basements and retaining walls close to the River Thames.

The tower is of reinforced concrete construction and has a piled raft foundation.

The review focussed on primary vertical and lateral load resisting systems, using advanced analysis backed up by simple hand calculations to rapidly gain an appreciation of the structure.

In addition to reviewing the consultant design, we also commented on value engineering alternatives put forward by contractors.

The project is currently nearing completion

We carried out an independent structural peer review of this 250m tall mixed use reinforced concrete framed high rise building and associated podium development and basements in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia on behalf of the Kuwaiti investor.

The project required close co-operation between all parties involved and a rapid turnaround of submissions.

Q&A sheets were prepared during the review and a summary report was provided on completion.
